This project came as a result of the need for additional elementary school space for Seaman USD 345, as mobile units were being used as supplemental classrooms at West Indianola Elementary. Is was a phased project to include new construction, renovation, and site work.
New construction included 23,494 square feet of new space attached to the west side of the existing facility. This added 10 classrooms, 2 offices, a conference room, a work room, restrooms, and a gymnasium. Two of the new classrooms are constructed to serve as a storm shelter for the facility. The foundation is remodeled to include new HVAC, lighting, ceilings, and flooring. There are also new interior partitions, a relocated main office, music room, library, and classrooms. This work was completed during the 2014 summer and ready for school in the fall of 2014.
In addition, at the Lyman Elementary School, a 1500 square foot remodel was included with this project. This involved addition of offices, a server room, and emergency generator.
