ABOUT THIS PROJECT

The city of Marysville, KS voted to proceed on construction of a new outdoor aquatic center to replace the existing swimming pool (In operation since 1953 with the original bathhouse from the 1930’s).  The existing facilities were demolished with the new facilities constructed in the same location. Construction started after the pool closed for the 2013 season and was complete in time for the opening of the 2014 swimming season.

The pool has a 282,551 gallon capacity and 9,936 square foot of surface area. The pool area includes; a 7-lane, 25 meter competition pool; a diving well with 2 diving boards; a 60′ and 200′ slide into the plunge area; zero depth entry into a dedicated toddler area and a shallow depth pool; benches & tables for a lunch area; sunshade structures; perimeter fencing; night lighting; and a pool heater.

The bathhouse is a CMU building with a wood truss and shingled roof.  It includes men’s, women’s, and family restrooms/shower rooms, as well as concessions, a first aid station, an office, and storage/mechanical rooms.  Additionally, a new parking lot was added across the street from the pool.
