Concrete foundations with CMU walls and brick facade to match existing with membrane roof. The interior stage area is remodeled into a computer room, classrooms, faculty break room and storage. There are other miscellaneous flooring, ceiling and paint finish upgrades throughout the building as well as updates to the mechanical system.

Description
This new facility has a lower level that will serve as a tornado safe room and meeting room for Camp Cornhusker with an upper level to serve as an education center. The upper level includes a visitor's office, lounge, kitchen, restrooms and a 1,500 SF multipurpose room that can be divided into two classrooms with a movable partition. The project has been designed to achieve a LEED Gold certification with the US Green Building Council (USGBC). LEED stands for Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design and promotes an energy efficient, sustainable and environmentally friendly construction process and building. The foundation walls are constructed with insulating concrete forms (ICFs) while the upper walls are constructed of structurally insulated panels (SIPs). The roof is constructed of SIPs installed on top of wood trusses.

This project is a 3-story addition to the north side of the existing school with a connecting 1-story addition to the west. The north addition includes a 2,300 SF fitness room and a music room on the 1st level, 6 classrooms on the 2nd level, and a classroom, art classroom and wrestling room on the 3rd floor. The west addition establishes a secure entrance to the facility and includes a concessions stand, gym lobby and serves as a corridor around the existing gymnasium to the new classrooms.   The exterior building walls are precast concrete with brick veneer. The roof is EPDM at the 3-story addition and standing seam metal at the 1-story. Flooring ranges from polished concrete to carpet tile, rubber flooring and ceramic tile. Ceilings are acoustical or open to structure. Sitework includes relocation of utilities, sidewalks around the perimeter of the buildings, steps at the entries and paving.

The Northern Hills project is the renovation and conversion of the previous middle school facility into an elementary school. A new HVAC system is installed throughout and the building is re-roofed. Finishes and new light fixtures are included in much of the older portions of the building. This project came as a result of the need for additional elementary school space for Seaman USD 345, as mobile units are currently being used as supplemental classrooms at West Indianola Elementary. It is a phased project to include new construction, renovation and site work. New Construction: 23,494 SF of new space is attached to the west side of the existing facility. Included is: 10 classrooms, 2 offices, a conference room, a work room, restrooms and a gymnasium. Two of the new classrooms are constructed to serve as storm shelter for the facility. The foundation is drilled pier and grade beam concrete.  Renovation: Approximately 75% of the interior of the existing facility is remodeled to include new HVAC, lighting, ceilings, flooring along with new interior partitions and for the relocated main office, music room, library and classrooms. This work is to be completed during the 2014 summer and ready for school in the fall of 2014.  Lyman Elementary School: A 1,500 SF remodel of Lyman Elementary School is included with this project. This involves the addition of offices, a server room and emergency generator.

This project includes the addition of 3 new classrooms, a strength & conditioning facility, a track storage building, a new football pressbox, refinishing of the gymnasium, restroom refinishing and updates to the main lobby concessions area and finishes. (3) - 800 SF classrooms are added to the existing building with CMU and brick walls, steel joist roof framing and an EPDM roof. The 5,000 SF strength & conditioning facility is a pre-engineered metal building with standing seam roofing and standard interior finishes. The track storage building is a 40' x 70' pre-engineered metal building. The existing mezzanine level is modified for installation of bleachers extending onto that level from below. The gym floors & walls are refinished as well. The existing pressbox is removed and additional concrete work completed for the new pressbox on the home side and new bleachers on the visitor's side. The restrooms in the existing building receive upgrades to plumbing fixtures, new flooring, toilet partitions and wall paint. The new classroom addition adds more than 2,100 sf to the west side of the original building built by AHRS in 1980.  A pre-engineered steel building supports the standing seam roof above it and the unique pattern of brick and vinyl siding of the exterior facade.  A limestone cross accents the west side of the building and is illuminated through the night for viewing around the clock.  The interior partitions are composed of metal stud and drywall construction.  The bright and colorful interior design should bring excitement and exuberance to the classroom for the new pre preschool and kindergarten students for years to come.
