Description
This project includes renovating the west side of Stone Street between 18th and 17th streets, and the south side of 17th between Stone Street and Highway 73.  All of the existing sidewalks, curb and gutter, meter post, traffic signage, and street lights will be removed.  These blocks will be replaced with a new modern Kirkham Michael Engineer’s design to integrate a more pedestrian friendly downtown environment.  Each block will have a new colored concrete band along the existing historical brick streets and will be lined with new landscape planters and raised seating areas.  The raised seating areas will be bound with a custom ornamental steel fence.   Also, each street intersection will have large landscape beds protruding into the street and new street lighting.  New steel benches, chairs, trash receptacles, and bike racks put the finishing touches on a beautiful downtown sidewalk revitalization that will enhance the pedestrian’s experience to the area for many years to come.
